Yola Court Jails Man for Six Months Over Intimidation of FRSC Officers
A Chief Magistrate Court in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, has convicted Nuhu Isah to six months imprisonment or a N20,000 fine for intimidating Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials and inciting a mob against them during an encounter on Sunday.
The court delivered its verdict on Tuesday after Isah was found guilty of recording an FRSC patrol team while they carried out their lawful duties. The incident escalated as Isah allegedly intimidated the officers and provoked passengers, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
According to the FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, “A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, presided over by His Worship Mohammed Njidda, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, convicted and sentenced Mr. Nuhu Isah to six months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine for criminally intimidating the FRSC Patrol team.”
The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, emphasized the agency’s dedication to maintaining road safety and condemned actions that put officers and road users at risk.
“The Corps Marshal calls on all road users to contribute their quota towards improving safety on the highway instead of engaging in acts inimical to safer road use,” Mohammed said. He also stressed the agency’s resolve to continue its mission, despite challenges posed by individuals like Isah.
The FRSC has ramped up efforts, deploying additional personnel to manage traffic and respond to emergencies, especially during the busy festive season.
