Ukraine Denounces Russian Ceasefire, Calls It a Deceptive Move
Ukraine Slams Putin’s Truce as a “Farce” Amid Ongoing Russian Attacks
Ukraine has rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unilateral order for a three-day truce, calling it a “farce” as Russian forces continued their offensive along the front line. The truce, which was intended to coincide with Moscow’s World War II Victory Day parade, was supposed to begin on Thursday morning.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga criticized the truce, stating, “Predictably, Putin’s ‘Parade ceasefire’ proves to be a farce,” and added that from midnight to midday, Russia violated the ceasefire 734 times and conducted 63 assault operations.
Despite Ukraine not agreeing to the truce, Russia accused Ukrainian forces of violating it. Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed that its military was adhering to the ceasefire, refraining from strikes by aircraft, missiles, artillery, and drones, but claimed Ukrainian forces continued hostilities.
Ukraine’s air force reported Russian tactical aviation strikes using guided bombs in the northern Sumy region, while Russia also launched an attack on a residential area near Bilopillya, located near the border with Russia’s Kursk region.
Ukraine vowed to respond to the ongoing attacks and share information with its allies, emphasizing that the truce was not respected by Russia.
