Tinubu Administers Oath to INEC Commissioners, CCB Members

President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in two newly appointed National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abdulrazak Tukur and Sunday Aja, representing the North West and South East zones respectively.

The swearing-in took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly before the 27th Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting commenced.

Tukur and Aja were nominated in November 2024 and confirmed by the Senate after screening.

Also sworn in were Ikpeme Ndem from Cross River State and Justice Buba Nyaure from Taraba State, who are now members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Following the brief ceremony, the FEC meeting proceeded into a closed-door session.

Attending the meeting were key government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Other ministers in attendance included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

At the last FEC meeting on May 5, the Council approved the Renewed Hope Nigeria-First Policy, which is aimed at promoting locally produced goods and services in all federal government procurement. “This policy signals our strong commitment to strengthening the Nigerian economy from within,” said a presidency source familiar with the development.
