Russian Drone Attack on Kyiv Region Kills One, Injures Four
A Russian drone strike targeting the Kyiv region on Friday resulted in the death of one person and injuries to four others, local officials reported.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv region administration, confirmed that a truck driver was killed after debris from a downed Russian drone struck his vehicle. Three others, including a 16-year-old boy and his father, were injured when wreckage hit a residential house.
This attack is part of an intensified wave of aerial strikes by Russian forces across Ukraine during the early weeks of winter. On New Year’s Day, a similar drone strike in central Kyiv claimed two lives.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia had launched 93 drones overnight, comprising 60 attack drones and 26 decoy-style drones. Many were either shot down or disabled by electronic countermeasures.
While downed drones caused damage in two districts of Kyiv, no injuries were reported within the city limits, according to Kyiv’s mayor.
