Pascal Dozie, Former Diamond Bank Plc, Passes Away at 85

Pascal Gabriel Dozie, respected Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of the former Diamond Bank Plc, has passed away at the age of 85.

Family members confirmed that Mr. Dozie died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025—just one day before his 86th birthday—following complications related to age-associated health issues.

Widely recognized for his pioneering role in Nigeria’s banking sector, Mr. Dozie established Diamond Bank, which became known for its forward-thinking approach to financial services.

He served as chairman of the bank before eventually stepping down and passing the leadership to his son, Uzoma Dozie. Diamond Bank later merged with Access Bank, marking a significant chapter in the country’s financial history.
