Graham Potter Takes Over as West Ham’s New Head Coach

West Ham United has officially named Graham Potter as its new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The 49-year-old, who previously managed Chelsea, Swansea City, and Brighton & Hove Albion, now takes on the challenge of leading the Hammers after his departure from Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Potter expressed his excitement at returning to the Premier League, noting that the timing of the opportunity with West Ham felt right. He emphasized his desire to build a team that the supporters would be proud of, building on the solid foundation established by the club’s recent successes, including their 2023 Europa Conference League victory.

In his statement, Potter reflected positively on his discussions with the club’s management, noting their shared values of hard work and energy. He is eager to work with West Ham’s talented squad, which includes a number of international players, and aims to create a pathway for long-term success at the club.

Potter will be supported by Assistant Coach Bruno and first-team coaches Billy Reid and Narcís Pèlach. Known for his success in Sweden and at previous clubs, Potter is ready to guide West Ham forward.

The appointment follows the recent dismissal of Julen Lopetegui after a string of poor results, leaving West Ham in 14th place in the Premier League, just seven points clear of the relegation zone. Potter will now aim to reverse the club’s fortunes.
