Governor Fubara Signs N1.1 Trillion 2025 Rivers State Budget into Law
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has enacted the 2025 budget, valued at N1.1 trillion, under the theme “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development.”
The governor shared the development via his X handle on Thursday, emphasizing the budget’s focus on sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Presented on December 30, 2024, to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State House of Assembly, the budget reflects a substantial increase from the previous year’s N800 billion allocation.
Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the lawmakers and his executive team for their dedication to advancing the state, stating, “Together, we are charting a path towards a prosperous future, prioritizing the development of critical sectors.”
However, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized the process, labeling it as unlawful, citing tensions between the governor and a faction of the state legislature loyal to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The governor’s enactment of this budget marks a significant step in his administration’s vision for 2025 and its pledge to foster inclusive growth and sustainable development.
